Updating this blog has been on my to do list for about three months now. The problem is that so much has happened that I am overwhelmed even thinking about how to note it all. So, I've decided to give myself a break, hit the high points, and move on. I'm sure my 2 readers will appreciate it. :)
Luke had a musical at school; he had a speaking (2 lines) and music part (bass xylophone). It was lovely.
Luke had awards night at school; he got a scholarship award (all A's all year) and a conduct award (outstanding conduct this year). We were very proud; he's a great kid.
Luke began playing ice hockey. We thought it'd be a simple fun activity for him to do. Apparently, most of the other parents and the league think these are future NHL players we are dealing with. The good news is that Luke is having a blast. The bad news is that we are traveling 1-2 times a week to take him to games that are anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour away. And don't forget practices. Did I mention that Luke is having a blast? The other good news is that tonight is our last game! Football season starts in September and is thankfully much less of a commitment. I'm sure I'll post again about kids and sports (this has been a very enlightening experience).
Luke turned 8 on May 29th and had a rollerskating party. He asked me to make the cake. It was supposed to be a hockey rink. Luke was very happy with it; I was just glad it was edible.
Summer has been absolutely crazy. We were so busy the first two weeks we didn't even notice we weren't in school. Then I got the H1N1 flu and was out for a whole week. It was awful but also very relaxing (almost like a vacation). And that my friends is truly sad. Since we aren't going on a vacation this summer (money is tight), my vacation was being stuck in bed with the flu. Gee. I might have to avoid thinking about that anymore. Too depressing.
Since having the flu, we slowed down a little. We still swim 3-5 times a week (love our local pool), go the library (the kids are both doing summer reading clubs), have playdates with friends, and just chill. I am working through the summer but have been able to take off a week each month to just hang with the kids.
So that is all you need to know to catch up on our lives for the past 3 months. Well, I left quite a bit out, but I'm sure it will come up later. Now that I have gotten over my anxiety about writing again, it won't be another 3 months before you hear from me.
